About the CIA Challenge Exam
The CIA Challenge Exam is an accelerated pathway to CIA certification for experienced internal audit professionals. Instead of taking three separate exams, you can complete all requirements in one comprehensive examination.
This option is ideal for senior internal auditors, audit managers, and those with extensive experience who want to achieve CIA certification quickly and efficiently.
Important: The Challenge Exam is only available to candidates with 5+ years of internal audit experience. If you don't meet this requirement, consider the traditional CIA 3-Part Exam.
Eligibility Requirements
Experience Requirement
Minimum 5 years of internal audit experience is required to be eligible for the Challenge Exam. This experience must be verified and documented.
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. Candidates without a degree may substitute with additional experience.
Character Reference
A character reference form signed by a CIA, your supervisor, or another qualified individual.
Code of Ethics
Agreement to abide by The IIA's Code of Ethics.
